Besides the obvious, bottles, wipes, diapers, pacifiers, etc., here were my top 6 must-haves for my baby from when she came home to 3 months old. Again, obviously I had a premie baby and I'm breastfeeding so my must-haves may be a bit different than others but here goes:
Warning: All my must-haves will come with a link to buy through Amazon because I am affiliated with them because that's pretty much where I get everything non grocery anymore. Extremely convenient and well priced. Obviously, these products can be bought other places.
1) Medela Quick Steam Bags - Okay so you're told before you bring baby home that all of his/her bottles, nipples, and pacifiers should be boiled along with any pump parts. Pan and water always worried me because I didn't want to shrink anything or something to happen and my mom got me these:
TOTAL LIFESAVER. They are quick, can be used up to 20 times, and overall super convenient especially because here recently, Kota got Thrush (post to come) and everything had to be boiled basically daily to keep from passing it back and forth.
2) Boppy Pillow - I know a lot of people that say they got one and never used it but I literally use mine every day. It was so nice to have when she first came home for nursing because she was so tiny it was a challenge to hold her up to feed her. Now that she's bigger, I still use it to prop my arm and her dad uses it when he feeds her a bottle. Its also pretty nice just to give her support so she can sit up by herself.
PLUS. its just another thing to get a cute cover for. I have this one now:
3) Sleeping Gowns - Especially when we first came home and she was only sleeping a couple hours or just an hour at a time, these are so handy. You don't have to worry about buttons or zippers so changing diapers in the middle of the night is so simple. Plus, they also have the ability to fold the sleeves over their hands to act as mittens. I'll prolly be getting these for Kota til she's out of diapers, I love them.
4) Interactive Playmat - This has been Kota's absolute favorite because she loves kicking the keys and making the sounds. She actually gets real mad when she pushes herself too far away to reach. 10/10 recommend
5) Muslin Blankets - So my mom ended up getting these ones for me:
They are so soft and thin. I love them cuz they work great for a car seat cover in this hotter weather to keep the breeze out of the baby's face. Plus Kota's favorite thing right now is to grab her blankets and pull them over her face when she's sleeping so the thinner blankets make me feel a bit more comfortable. Since I loved the first set I ordered these which aren't quite as soft but still super nice:
6) Bottle Warmer - Never thought I would need this because I thought you just used the microwave (update: do not use the microwave it heats milk unevenly and can burn baby) but my mom got this for me, well mostly for Jeff since he does most of the bottle feeding, and its just made things WAY easier.
So there ya have it. My top 6 items for my babes up to now. Stay tuned for the 4-6 month post.
