Living Nightmare - House Edition

Alright so we had gotten a lot of rain and snow (sorry, I'm not sure the timeline anymore but it was about a month ago?) and our toilet and sinks kept gurgling. I didn't think anything of it and was just gonna get some heavy duty Drain-o. Well, one morning, Kota and I got in the shower and there was no hot water. I thought it was strange but wasn't too concerned. I just asked J to check it out, Then, it was on wednesday night, J sends me a snap of our basement... and there is like a foot of water. He calls our landlord and he sends out the maintenance team. They couldn't do anything til morning because they had to rent an industrial sump pump.

So next morning they come out at 8:30am and our furnace had quit working overnight. So we are expecting the worst, furnace is shot, hot water heater is shot, they're gonna have to tear up the yard... Well they get all the water pumped out into the backyard and turns out the sump pump had stopped working at some point. So they got that running again. Thank god my landlord was amazing through all of this because I thought I was living a nightmare.

He replaced the water heater in a matter of hours and had a furnace guy out to look at it. Turns out the control board got fried and they had to order a new one which would take a week. So our landlord went out and bought us 3 brand new big electric heaters to keep the house warm (luckily it wasn't bitter cold outside anymore) until it came in.

All in all, it was a crazy experience and I was a mess but luckily everything is back together and working now.

While going through the house and replacing everything, my landlord goes "I like what you've done to the kitchen so when're you just gonna buy the place from me?". Stay tuned😉
